What's new at 'The Last Masquerade Of 1913’ - The Ball That Never Ended. for 2026? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?

This year we’ve intertwined the real history of Deepwells Mansion with a fictional legend we created around the Masquerade of 1913. It makes the haunt much more immersive because there’s a story unfolding as you move through the house. And, of course, Deepwells has its own stories of spirits and unexplained happenings, so you’re never quite sure where our fictional haunt ends and the real haunting begins!

What are you most excited about for the 2026 Halloween Season?

Definitely this year’s theme! It gives us a chance to really show off the grandeur of this incredible historic mansion. We’re bringing the elegance of a 1913 masquerade ball to life with period costumes, waltzing couples, an elaborate ballroom, candlelit dining and, of course, the masks. This year, it’s all about the masks! It starts out beautiful and elegant—but it doesn’t stay that way for long. It’s going to be terrifying.

What differentiates 'The Last Masquerade Of 1913’ - The Ball That Never Ended. from other local haunts in Long Island?

First and foremost, our haunted house is an actual 1845 mansion. You simply can’t recreate that atmosphere. The history is real, the house is incredible on its own, and there are plenty of stories about spirits that already call Deepwells home. Then we come in and transform the entire mansion and grounds for Halloween. You’re walking the actual old staircases and hallways, through rooms that have been here for generations. There’s an authenticity and creepiness to Deepwells that you just can’t build on a set.

How long has 'The Last Masquerade Of 1913’ - The Ball That Never Ended. been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about 'The Last Masquerade Of 1913’ - The Ball That Never Ended.'s history?

The Deepwells Haunted Mansion has been running for around 20 years, and it has grown tremendously. It originally started with just a couple of rooms for local neighborhood kids to enjoy at Halloween. Today, we use the entire mansion—two floors—as well as the surrounding grounds. We try to take advantage of every creepy corner of the property!
What makes it even more special is that Deepwells Farm Historical Society is a nonprofit organization and the haunt is completely volunteer-run. This is our largest fundraiser, and 100% of the proceeds go directly toward the preservation and restoration of Deepwells Mansion. So while people are coming out to have a great time and get scared, they're also helping us preserve an important piece of local history.

What's your favorite experience since opening 'The Last Masquerade Of 1913’ - The Ball That Never Ended.?

I have Many but one for sure, would be when we had a couple plan on proposing during their visit to our haunted mansion. They were (guests) and one of them contacted us and we helped him do it in a room during the haunt night. Served the ring up on a platter of worms and guts -Ha Ha that was great... She said yes by the way.

How long is a typical haunt experience at 'The Last Masquerade Of 1913’ - The Ball That Never Ended. from start to finish?

Well, of course, that depends on how fast you run! Ha-ha!
It's a very substantial haunt compared with many others. You travel through two full floors of the mansion, climb the main staircase, make your way back down through the servants' side of the house and eventually escape through the back doors.
But you're not done.
From there, you're sent through the corn maze, into the dark wooded trail and eventually through our graveyard. It's a full indoor-and-outdoor experience, and we put a tremendous amount into it. You definitely get your money's worth—and plenty of scares along the way.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say 'The Last Masquerade Of 1913’ - The Ball That Never Ended. is? Why?

A 10. Absolutely!
There's something different about being scared inside a real historic mansion. When you combine the history of Deepwells with the legend we've created—and start telling that story before people even enter the haunt—it gets into their heads. Then they step through those doors and suddenly they're standing inside the story they just heard.
That's when it becomes really scary.

Does 'The Last Masquerade Of 1913’ - The Ball That Never Ended.'s property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?

Too many encounters to count! The mansion was built in 1845. The place has many spirits hanging around (as per the Mediums and ghost hunters who investigated.). It was the summer home of The Mayor of NYC in 1913! People claim to see his face in windows and reflections. One year as I was decorating for the haunt - I was carrying a heavy trunk up the staircase, as I got to the top and put it down, I heard a deep 'Moan/Groan' right in my ear - It chilled me to the bone! Yeah and Sounds of children laughing - when house was empty ... tons of stories.

What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?

I love that the haunt brings the community together with so many local families volunteering to bring scary fun to so many and at the same time raise money to keep this historical landmark standing for future generations.

How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance 'The Last Masquerade Of 1913’ - The Ball That Never Ended.?

Well, Each year sound and lighting do get a little easier! lol yes many things get better easier but having live actors in place of animatronics is always my first choice .

We keep it to a maximum of 5 victims to each group! Less is MORE!! lol
